Civic Disability Services has provided supports to people with intellectual disability and/or mental health conditions for almost 60 years. We provide people with disability to exercise choice and control in their lives, achieve their goals and participate in the community.

Accommodation
Civic is implementing innovative ways to best support clients accommodation needs – all with the right level of support. Civic supports individuals who want to live independently or with friends. We provide short term (respite) and long term accommodation and our transitional accommodation service can help provide confidence when moving into a home.
Supported Employment
At Civic, adults with intellectual disability and/or mental health conditions can gain employment in inclusive and supportive environments. We offer employment opportunities in the Sutherland Shire, Holsworthy, and in the Shoalhaven. We are currently working to expand our work placement offerings across Sydney.
Social Enterprise
Civic’s social enterprise services include paper shredding, lawn mowing, packaging, mailing, bonded warehouse as well as a new café located in North Nowra called Nourish Kitchen + Café.
Individual Drop in Support
Available in your home and when you’re out in the community. Services include:
- Personal care and domestic tasks
- Assistance at meal times
- Support to visit libraries, museums, shops
- Support to attend appointments
- Assistance with budgeting
- Assistance to achieve your desired goals
Clinical Services
Civic specialists in psychology, speech therapy and other disciplines work with clients and families to improve mobility, speech, communication and social interaction. Support is also provided to overcome eating and drinking difficulties, and to improve skills such as handwriting, dressing and cooking.
Delivered by professionals who can help improve mobility, speech, communications, social interaction and everyday tasks. Behavioural concerns, mental health issues and emotional difficulties can also be addressed. Services include:
- Therapy
- Counselling
- Functional assessment and behavioural support plans
- Speech therapy including nutrition, swallowing support and alternative communication
Community Hubs
Community Hubs offer a wide range of engaging activities aimed at increasing skills, knowledge, personal independence and confidence. Activities include computer training, fitness activities, yoga, massage, fishing, art and music therapy to name just a few.
Supported Holidays
Civic Rec Ability’s social events and holidays include supported group holidays; disco afternoons; karaoke events and excursions. Did you know that your NDIS plan may pay for the supports you need while on holiday? Ask us how.
Children Services – Short Stays (Respite)
Civic offers respite accommodation specially designed for children. This is an opportunity for children to try new activities and learn skills tailored to their interest and abilities. Fully trained staff provide 24 hour support and while children have their own rooms, the opportunity to interact with those of similar age is encouraged.
Individual Support
Catering to individual family needs, Civic can arrange for a trained child care staff member to provide individual support to children at home, in the community or at activities such as swimming lessons or weekend recreational pursuits.
Vacation and After School Care
Civic’s Vacation Care program has been running throughout the year with positive feedback from parents and staff. The base at Sylvania offers centre-based programs such as arts & crafts, music, drama, cooking along with a number of sensory activities. Offsite excursions are also offered.
After School Care from 3pm – 6pm on weekdays throughout the school term, has a number of activities based on learning outcomes. Children have the opportunity to learn social skills, computer skills and sports as well as play with various games and arts and crafts and interact with children of a similar age.
School Leavers Employment Services
School Leavers Employment Services provide individuals with the skills to prepare for work whether it be setting career plans and goals or developing skills by attending courses run by accredited trainers.
NDIS Support Coordination
Working with you and your loved ones through the NDIS journey is a priority for us at Civic. Staff support you through the NDIS at your pace, working with you each and every step of the way, tailoring and maximising your plan so you get the best outcome.
