Virtual is the new normal

VDE May2020

People with Disability are embracing My Future, My Choice as a way to control how they want to live their lives now and plan for the future. Recently the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live, work, socialise and obtain information. Accessing information and services via online platforms such as Zoom, facetime, facebook messenger, WhatsApp and Skype to name a few is fast becoming the new normal.

In 2020, come and join us for the Virtual Disability Expo! The Virtual Disability Expo is a fantastic opportunity to continue to connect and be informed, all from the comfort and safety of your own home. The Virtual Disability Expo will link thousands of people with a disability with hundreds of product and service providers as well as presenting a range of informative and interactive presentations delivered by industry experts. The expo will be available across three regions – in Sydney-NSW, Nepean-NSW, Melbourne-VIC, Geelong-VIC, Brisbane-QLD and Gold Coast QLD.

The My Future, My Choice Virtual Disability Expo is a welcoming hub where thousands of people get the support and information they need to maximise their goals and supports. A one-stop-shop for innovative programs, services, disability equipment and technologies, in a live and interactive easy to use format.

“People come to the expo understandably cautious about how to utilise their funding to enhance their lives in meaningful and practical ways,” says spokesperson for the My Future, My Choice Disability Expo and Social Impact Institute Senior Advisor Kathryn Carey.

“We intentionally work with representatives from the local disability community to ensure that expos offers real, meaningful solutions and increases inclusion for all people in their community,” Kathryn Carey says.

“We’ve noticed that businesses are responding with better and more innovative offerings. The expo is an exciting place to be because it’s the best place for businesses to showcase it – even if we can’t meet face-to-face in person at the moment, the expo offers the opportunity for virtual face-to-face interaction.”

You can also expect an engaging atmosphere over the two-day event, with all-ages entertainment and live performances, special interest chat groups, workshops and demonstrations.

Entry is FREE for attendees. Register online for fast access and follow the Facebook pages within your region of interest for updates.
