The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) opens up a whole new world of possibilities for people with a disability. By changing the way that funding is delivered, the NDIS gives you more choice and control over your supports and helps you to achieve your goals in life.
As an NDIS participant, you’ll receive your own personal NDIS plan based upon your individual needs and goals. Your NDIS plan will include an overview of your funds, allocated to a maximum of 15 support categories.

What are the options for managing your NDIS funds?
When it comes to managing your NDIS funds, there are three options available to you:
- Plan managed: Use an organisation to manage your NDIS funding and pay service providers.
- Self-managed: Take control of all elements of your plan. You’ll manage invoices, service agreements and make sure that service providers are paid with your NDIS funds.
- NDIS managed: The NDIS will manage your service providers and funds, however you can only use specific service providers that are registered with the NDIS.

Which option is right for me?
Many people choose plan management because it offers the most choice and flexibility with the least amount of stress and effort.
A big advantage of plan management is that you can also access providers that aren’t NDIS registered. Many providers, especially the smaller ones, provide quality services but haven’t registered with the NDIS yet because of the administration involved.
